Kai's first day of Preschool
Last Wednesday was Kai's first day of Preschool.
They asked a parent to come and sit in with them on the first day to help them adjust.
Our independent little Kai boy was a little perturbed at this idea and, in typical Kai fashion, so as not to hurt my feelings, he kindly asked me to stay home so Addie and Daddy would not be sad.
I told him I had to come this time but promised the next day he could go all by himself.
His response.....
"YESssssssss!"...and then a simple, "thanks Mom."
(i just might be offended if he wasn't so darn cute!!!)

Trampoline Campout
A few weeks ago I was talking to Maya about some of the fun things that I used to do when I was her age and I told her how I used to sleep on my cousins, the Bernhardt's, trampoline on some of our family visits.
This idea thrilled Maya to no end.
SO...for the last few weeks she has been asking us EVERY single day if we could have a family camp out on our trampoline.
And, for the last few weeks Anthony and I have had to come up with excuses and dodge that bullet for a while.
Last weekend we finally decided it was time for us to surrender and give in to the endless begging.
It was worth every shrill of excitement that came from Maya and Kai on our very first Pabst Family Camp out on the Trampoline. They had such a blast!
We just might have to do it again.....next year.
Maya totally got into her ghost story.

First Day in First Grade
This has been a much anticipated day for the Pabst family.
Maya started her first day of the first grade today.
No more "carpet time" after lunch.
No more play room.
No more snack time.
Maya entered the big kid world of elementary school today.
It may sound kind of funny but I swear she looks and is acting older today.
She insisted on getting an alarm clock so that she could wake up all on her own.
We started off the morning with Maya's favorite breakfast....CREPES and SMOOTHIES. yum...
It was so fun seeing old friends from back in the good ol' kindergarten days...
Maya and her new teacher, Mrs. Biondo...
Getting off the bus at the end of the day. We got a good report and she can't wait until tomorrow... It's going to be a good year.

A Moving Family Home Evening
Anthony has been wanting a piano for a very long time. So for his birthday this year I arranged to have my Grammy's old piano that has been sitting in my parents garage moved into our front room. (It turns having a piano moved requires a lot of planning and preperation)
So we had a special family home evening and invited a bunch of friends and family over to mom and dad's house for pizza where the men moved the piano from the garage to the uhaul and then we all moved the party to our house where the men moved the piano off the trailor, up the front steps and into our front room. After the piano was sittin' pretty in its new home we had a lesson and some dessert.
It was a really fun night with some of our closest loved ones.
Thank you so much to all those who came to help....especially all of our strong, able men.
The men had quite the audience....
Here are the muscles...Aaron, Dad, Mike, Anthony, Aaron and Spence...
Breaking it in...

Oaks Park
Last week was our final Summer Fun in '09 trip. We decided to go to Oaks Park where from 9:30-11:30 they have just the little kid rides open and kids ages 0-6 are allowed to ride for a cheaper rate.
We had a blast!!!
Maya, Rachel Saralyn and Thane going down "Big Pink"...
The tilt a whirl was NOT Kai's favorite. I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. Poor Kai...just look at his face, it says it all.
Thanks for holding on so tight Cristy...
The carousel was everyones favorite I think...
What a fun day. And a fun summer. Thanks for all the fun outings Cristy and Saralyn.

Our Addie Girl
This child came into our lives and penetrated my heart in a way I never saw coming.
Her constant disheveled look has become a part of her. She is always on the move. Always getting into something. Always.
I used to try and keep up. Fixing her hair with pretty barrettes and ponytails. She doesn't have time for bows or barrettes. Pretty things just get in her way.
She just wants to play, explore and destroy...
Her stubborn persistence.
The way she goes about her business without a care in the world. It is as if nothing else matters. It is her and her goal. Wither it is picking her nose or grabbing for a cup full of grape juice, this girl will stop at nothing to get the job done.
Mommy may yell, Daddy may grab...but she will persist until the task is complete. No matter the obstacle that is in her way.
Her eyes...
oh man, those eyes.
At times, it is as if I can feel them enter deep into my soul.
With that stare it is as if Our spirits connect and hang out for a bit.
Totally pure and kind.
Those eyes...
She may be the reason I get my first gray hair, or the reason I fall into a deep coma each night, or the reason I have given up on a completely tidy home,
but this girl has my heart.
She is my sweet little angel and I thank God for trusting us enough to place her amazing spirit into our family for all eternity.
I got the good end of the deal.

Anthony's Graduation 8/29/09
On Saturday we celebrated the end of a pretty long and tough year with Anthony's graduation from the Nursing Program at OHSU.
Anthony has spent the last year studying, staying up late, studying, working, studying and a whole lot of praying. All the while being an incredible father and husband. I am so proud of my husband and so grateful for all he does for the kids and I.
He now has a month off and then he starts the next two years of school to become a Nurse Practitioner.
One year down....two more to go and then we are on our way to fulfilling all of our wildest dreams...
